4/17 is the Last Day of Stratford Hills Ukrops
We all knew this day was coming but now we know exactly when our local Ukrops will be no more. On April 17th at 6 p.m. the doors will close and not re-open until April 27th. Four other stores will be closed at the same time as part of the staggered renovations/renaming/rebranding efforts. Head over to NBC12 for the full lists of stores.

Better stock up on those whitehouse rolls, y’all!
Actually, Martin’s webiste says they will continue to feature ukrop’s baked goods and prepared deli items (including whitehouse rolls and ukrops chicken salad): http://richmond.martinsfoods.com/index.html
Aw shucks. I was trying to start a panic.
Got my first look at the blue prints in one of the Chesterfield stores today… a bunch of suits were looking them over in the cafe, I joined in for a moment.
Humorless bunch (as most suits are), they did NOT appreciate my suggest as to where they could place the beer cooler.
Big ol notice of application sell booze was pasted on the front door.
Hope they put some lights in at the Stratford Hills outlet. I know they were saving a lot of money with the dim bulb routine, but it sure makes it difficult on us senior citizens to read the prices.
This may be a new thread, but it would be helpful if Martin’s were to be committed to carrying more local providers. Blanchard’s coffee has been marginalized and Amelia Springs water has lost its shelf space completely. We can all ask store managers to restock these locally owned and produced items, and help our community and economy also.
As long as they continue to support the local ASPCA, I’m happy.
Dropping their support would have been major blow.
I’m also happy to find that the Forest Hill Martin’s doesn’t have the problems that the Cary Street outlet has.
I gave that one two chances, never again, but the one over here seems fine.
I’m just sucking it up (i.e., giving up on big national brands that don’t care about me anyway) and shopping at Ellwood’s from now on. Staying true to local providers is more important to me than keeping big retail spaces occupied.
