Fire at George Wythe High School

Fire officials are reporting a fire in a girls’ bathroom at George Wythe High School in South Richmond.

“Some of the staff there have been overcome by smoke,” said Richmond fire Lt. Shawn L. Jones.

The building has been evacuated.

Jones did not have additional information about the incident at the school on Crutchfield Street near Midlothian Turnpike and Westover Hills Boulevard.

Will update if we hear more.
Update: A security officer and a student were hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.
