Fisher Elementary Looking for Crafters and Sponsors
JB Fisher Elementary PTA is deep into planning for it’s its annual Flamingo Fest. You may remember it as the Flamingo 5K,; they’ve just tweaked the name to more accurately portray all the events of the day. This year the event will be held May 22nd and will include the 5kK race,; a carnival,; silent auction,; and, new for this year, a used book sale and craft show. If you’re interested in donating an item to the auction, participating in the craft show, or sponsoring the 5kK, click through to whole article.
Silent Auction: To donate items for the silent auction email Ms.Verdi or call 327-5612
Craft Fair: Please contact Lisa Marshall at lisa_marshall@comcast.net if you’re interested in having a table of your wares.
5K: We’re looking for sponsors interested in having their logo on our festival/race shirts and on the posters put up around town. Sponsorships start at $200. Please contact Kris Lyons at 323-0374 or clyons1@comcast.net.
ed note: it seems the grammar fairy stopped by and “fixed” this post. I’d unfix it but that would just be stubborn and childish of me.

I hope this wasn’t a press release from the school – if so, typos are not acceptable – especially something as basic as confusing “it’s” with “its.” Before we commit more $$ to public schools, we should at least be able to see educators that can spell and use proper grammar.
This wasn’t written by an educator or PR person but by myself, a parent of a child at Fisher. And, like you, I hate simple errors like there/their/they’re and its/it’s but I’m human and mistakes happen. I’m sorry if it offends you. I write here on H&H without compensation and do so out of the desire to help our community stay informed and connected. I have a “real” job and will have to be forgiven a typo now and again here on this website.
Their be nothing that buggs me more then inproper grammer and speling. Sorry to say I am King of the Typo so you will see many more.
English 101, if you’re going to complain about someone else’s grammar, perhaps you should make sure yours is perfect. You need to brush up on how to use dashes and independent clauses correctly.
Good lord. I make a serious comment about the deplorable state of grammar being taught in our public schools and it is turned into a referendum on the virtues of volunteerism in the blogosphere.
English, lighten up for goodness sakes! It’s Friday! Have a scoop of ice cream or a cold one, whatever makes you happy! You’re taking things a little too seriously. Have a great weekend!
I am appointing myself Hills and Heights Spelling-and-Grammar Checker. Off to see if I can use red pen…
English, you didn’t. You attacked typos in the firt post, and assumed it was the result of current grammar, currently being taught. Unless Page is currently enrolled in school (you wish!), then your whole point fails. What also fails is your grasp of manners.
But I prefer the Once Upon a Vine post. Let’s go to OUAV and have a Guinness duel.
Huh. No easy way to change font colors, and that sucks the fun right out of it. The errant itses are safe from now on.
Jennifer C, you need to get a red sharpie and write directly on your monitor, then take a pic and send it to me. tnx!

You’ve just reminded me of “Winky Dink and You”.
Just wanted to point out that the logo for Flamingo Fest looks like “Flaming Fest”. You might get a different turn out than expected…
Well, hunh. Didn’t see that, Amanda. I think I’ll campaign for the removal of that balloon and put the O back!
FLAMING FEST!!! WHOO HOO. I can flame and make beads all day?
