Possible Lost Cat Spotted

3 Comments »

This was emailed to me this evening;
All winter a wooly white cat with a black-tipped tail has wandered in the general area of the 1500 blocks of Cedar Lane and West 45th St. It doesn’t appear to have a home, seems well-fed, is skittish around people, doesn’t seem to have a collar, and has had several near-miss encounters with neighborhood dogs and several larger cats. So far, I’ve not been able to determine whether it has an owner. In any event, I’m concerned about its well-being and wonder whether anyone owns it or knows who does.

    That is Buddy Buddy. He is a stray and is being cared for by some neighbors on Stonewall. He has been fixed, has a rabies shot and has been ear-tipped. :) He is coming around to the people who care for him, and he has a heated bed on their porch. :) No worries!

    Thanks for the info Caitlin. I will leave the post up in case others have spotted Buddy Buddy and had questions.

    Sure thing :) Buddy is all white, with a black hat on his head and an all-black tail. He is long haired and very skittish, but we suspect he has been an owned cat in the past. He is fairly large in size, too.

    We have a number of unowned or stray cats in the neighborhood who are cared for by animal-loving neighbors. A few of us have joined together in working towards making sure they are all spayed or neutered, well-fed, have good shelter and are able to stay as healthy as possible.

    Alley Cat Allies is a great resource for anybody interested in learning more about unowned / stray / feral cats: http://www.alleycat.org/ I’ve practiced TNR (trap-neuter-return) in the city and in the neighborhood for the last 5 or so years. More about TNR:

    Thanks!
