Google is looking for communities to apply for their experimental high-speed fiber optic network to be installed and tested.  It could be a huge boon for the city, but I have emailed our esteemed council president, with no response.  I think our schools in particular could really benefit from some super-fast internet, and I suspect that communities that are selected will soon see computer grants come in as manufacturers will want to test their equipment on Google&#039;s network.  Plus, it&#039;ll be an opportunity for lots of publicity.  Anyway, neat!  Anybody interested should absolutely forward that link around, get people talking about it, send it to your city council reps.  March 26 is the deadline.</description>
