Comments Needed for Patrick Henry Grant Proposal
2 Comments »From Patrick Henry:
Dear Friends of PHSSA,
PHSSA has a grant proposal for $148,000 pending with MacArthur Foundation that could help the school obtain funding to support technology-enabled outdoor classroom experiences for the students. The grant needs public comments to be considered for funding. Here’s the link:
http://dmlcompetition.net/pligg/story.php?title=412 The more positive comments the grant proposal receives, the better chances the school has of receiving the grant.
At the bottom of that page there’s a link that reads “Log in to comment or register here.” That’s where you can register and leave comments. Once you are registered, you’ll need to again search for the grant, so you can use this link: http://dmlcompetition.net/pligg/story.php?title=412or search by the title of ‘My Watershed Experience.’
The PHSSA Grants Committee is asking for families to post comments within the next 24 hours (by end of day on 2/15/10). Sorry for the short notice, but we are working on a tight deadline. A quick, supportive comment is all that we need. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
PHSSA Grants Committee

This is sort of similar, but not the same:
http://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/
Google is looking for communities to apply for their experimental high-speed fiber optic network to be installed and tested. It could be a huge boon for the city, but I have emailed our esteemed council president, with no response. I think our schools in particular could really benefit from some super-fast internet, and I suspect that communities that are selected will soon see computer grants come in as manufacturers will want to test their equipment on Google’s network. Plus, it’ll be an opportunity for lots of publicity. Anyway, neat! Anybody interested should absolutely forward that link around, get people talking about it, send it to your city council reps. March 26 is the deadline.
