FYI, CBS6 donned boots and took a boat ride and visited those houses you can see across the James River from Riverside Drive… dunno if they put it on the web, though.
I was kayaking on the river yesterday afternoon as it crested at 18.1′. The second set of two houses (the first two are on stilts) on the north shore of the James just down stream from the Hugenot bridge had 3′+ of water in the basements. But those people know the drill when it floods. They had their windows open with plywood blocking the doorways to keep out critters and trash.
