Funding Info on New Fire Station

The funding fornew Fire Station 17 came up at the city council meeting last night. An ordinance was introduced last night permitting the Chief Administrative Officer to accept $3,264,110 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and to transfer the funds to the 2009-2010 Capital Budget for the replacement of Fire Station 17. The City plans to build a new fire station at Canoe Run on Forest Hill Avenue to replace an aging station in Swansboro. The ordinance will be heard by the Planning Commission on February 1 and the Finance Committee on February 18th, and back to council on February 22.
