Forest Hill Yacht Club™ Logo Contest
What Yacht Club?
Forest Hill Neighborhood Association (FHNA) has invented the Forest Hill Yacht Club to celebrate the lake renovations in Forest Hill Park, which are expected to be completed later this spring. This “imaginary” organization was founded to raise awareness of Forest Hill neighborhood and the park, to foster a sense of community across all South Bank neighborhoods, to raise funds for native plantings in Forest Hill Park, to encourage wholesome activities in the park, and for just plain fun!
Why Do We Need a Logo?
A yacht club needs a logo for the pennant to hoist on the mast of your “yacht,” as well as for polo shirts, boat bags, souvenir mugs, and other “swag.”
A Regatta in Forest Hill Park Lake? Really?
Of course, the lake in Forest Hill Park is no place for real yachts, but with special permission from the Department of Parks and Recreation, FHNA will be sponsoring the “1st Annual Forest Hill Yacht Club Regatta” when the City holds its grand reopening of the lake this spring. The regatta will include competitions for speed and creativity, including human-power-only kayak/canoe races in men’s/women’s and youth classes, a dog-swim race, and best-decorated boat contest. Watch for details in the next issue of the Forest Hill Flyer or on the Web at: www.foresthillneighborhood.com

Uhhh. Not to be a stinker, but the designers have to PAY to work for the FHNA? For an unstated prize? I love love love the idea of a yacht club logo but the mechanics of the contest are kinda bogus. I’d love to submit a logo or two, but I shouldn’t be charged to do so.
Ditto.
So, Richard, I hope they like your design since it sounds like they’re not gonna get any other entries. HA HA. Pay for the privilege, indeedy.
Reminds me of that reefer plant that was the VCU logo for so many years until Trani came along and sanitized the school’s image by denying it’s hippie roots.
A great story here
i hated that logo. it was supposed to be the tree of knowledge or some such and it was such a poor 70s looking thing. it was an embarrassment to me as an art student there especially.
Yeah, I always thought the business students were behind that logo, or the folks in CA…
They certainly never ran it by anyone in Fine Arts.
Would be fun to see remote-controlled sailing competitions as part of the idea, but ditto on comments re: fee to submit logo design.
