Buz Coming to Positive Vibe

From Style Weekly:

Positive Vibe Café brings in the New Year with guest chef Buz Grossberg of Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue on Jan. 17. The self-described porktologist will serve a salad of pit-roasted beets with spinach, grilled oranges and goat cheese, poached oyster stew, barbecued quail, apricot rice, beef brisket with garlic mashed potatoes and collard greens. Dessert is stuffed bourbon apples with caramel sauce and ice cream. The regular menu is available also. Then, the café celebrates its fifth anniversary with a music party Jan. 23.

Interesting choice to go with brisket. I am a big fan of Buz and Ned’s food and often take out of town guests but I don’t think he does the best brisket in town. Best brisket in town goes to either Alamo on Church Hill or Halligan’s in Shockoe Bottom.

You owe it to yourself to taste our brisket Sunday night…just as it comes off our pit. You just might ‘eat’ your words…bring a group and compare notes.

I can’t make it on Sunday unfortunately but will give the brisket another try at your regular location. It wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong. Hope you get a good turnout on Sunday.

    Sorry you can’t be there.
Unfortunately, until we finish expanding our kitchen on the Blvd to match the one we are putting in our new location, you can’t get the brisket exactly as we will be serving it on Sunday…sliced directly from the whole brisket to order.
Thats the way we will be doing it at the Blvd after our kitchen expansion is complete several month from now. Stay tuned…

Darn, same day as the vegetarian beer dinner at Ipanema. We already have tickets to that so we’ll have to miss this one.

Hey Buz, are you expanding the dining area at the boulevard location as well? I love your food, but the layout of the ordering/dining/entrance makes it really difficult to enjoy dining there at peak hours.

Sorry Buz, the last time I was a fan of the B&N BBQ was when you had a trailer in the lot by Greentop.
I’ve tried your beef, pork and chicken and there is a flavor in there I just cannot take. But have a great time, I know lots of folks love B&N’s.
