Winter Farmer’s Market
Saturday was the last official day for the South of the James Market but we had heard rumblings of possible winter farmer’s market, now we have confirmation from the Market Umbrella. Vendors will gather in the parking lot at 5047 Forest Hill Avenue from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. December 12, 2009 through April 24, 2010. This is at the Antique Store and Blanchard’s Coffee between the Locker Room and The Forest. I heard that there will be at 7-8 vendors but didn’t hear which vendors.
The Richmond Food Collective has a breakdown of all the local winter farmer’s markets and some info on co-ops.

Terrific!
We can walk there.
In the snow?
Speaking of the antique store, I just drove by and noticed it looked empty inside. Are they going out of business?
TV, we get snow here? :)
Dan, I heard that one of the two guys that ran the antiques store is gone, but when I was actually in the space it looked like everything had been taken out. Let’s start coming up with ideas for the space!!! Sandwich and bagel shop would be my suggestion, Richard always votes for “Soccer/microbrew pub” regardless of empty storefront’s location.
A sandwich and bagel shop that serves microbrews and shows soccer on the big screen sounds good to me. Let’s make it nonsmoking to give that stretch of FH some balance, though.
Has anyone heard an update on which vendors will be at the Winter Market this weekend?
My wishlist:
CrossRoads – supersized
The Fat Goat – South
Dominion Harvest Storefront /
Indoor Farmer’s Market
The Return of Edible Garden
The Return of Miss Hathaway’s Cafe
Blanchard’s Coffee – Cafe
Winter market participants per Market Umbrella –
some of the vendors at the Winter Market tomorrow: Cavanna Pasta, Faith Farm, Grammy O’s Sticky Buns, Phal’s Egg Rolls, Simply Abundant Farm and Thistledowne Farm. More to come…
oh! how about a southside coppolla’s?! oh that would be delightful!
My vote is for Ipanema Cafe!
[...] it was a cold there was good turnout for the first Winter Market this past Saturday. No hard numbers but when I stopped by each of the 8 or so vendors had at least [...]
I’ll never argue with another restaurant within walking distance, but I’d love to see a neighborhood gym!
