What a pity that the news had to make the park sound dangerous. In the 28 years I lived in Richmond I walked “deeply” into the park several times a week. I NEVER encountered trouble or suspitious looking people. Nice that there is police presence, but just another way that Richmond news stereotypes city living as crazy dangerous, especially south of the river.

I agree.
The local news media have a tendency to use broad strokes when describing criminal activity in the city and end up doing a disservice.
That having been said, I’m pleased to see the increased police presence.
