City Council Approves School Construction Plan
From an article on RTD we learn that last night the city council voted 8-1 to approve the revised school construction plan submitted by the Mayor. The budget is 26 million more than 150 million allocated.
“Education remains a top priority for the city of Richmond and this administration,“ said Jones, a former Richmond School Board member.
The mayor said he hopes site work can start next year and that costs will come in lower than expected because contractors are eager for work. Chief Administrative Officer Byron C. Marshall called the estimates conservative and said the planned jail-modernization project could be split into phases to free up money for school projects if necessary.

Huguenot High may be in rough shape, but it’s by no means the high school in most need of replacement. This list of “priorities” is disheartening, to say the least.
School renovations might be more of a priority.
