Brown Middle School Teacher Wins Award
A partnership between The Community Foundation and the R.E.B. Foundation, recognizes outstanding public school teachers from Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, Richmond and the Department of Correctional Education. LaTonya Waller, Brown Middle School was awarded $10,000 to travel to Hawaii and Iceland to observe landforms and other phenomena taught in earth science. Congrats to Ms. Waller. Three other RPS teachers won awards. One hundred area teachers were nominated for this year’s R.E.B. Awards. From that group, 17 winners and 15 other finalists were selected to receive cash grants totaling more than $165,000 at a special ceremony held Nov. 9 at the Virginia Historical Society.
