We’ve got an updated district map showing development companies up at the website linked under FHNA Resources. We’ll continue to add to that site as we go along so everyone can follow along.
John Murden has it right–I never knew Forest Hill had so much history. Forest Hill Avenue used to be the Old River Road, one of two main exits out of Manchester during the Civil War. General Ewell’s wagon trains retreated along the Old River Road. General Lee returned from Appomattox along the same route. FHNA will vote tomorrow night whether to support an application for historic designation for the Forest Hill District.
They will also hear from Tom Flynn, the City traffic engineer, about his proposed roundabout to take an acre of Forest Hill Park to create a roundabout at Roanoke St.
That’s very cool, getting a neighborhood designated as a National Historic District offers nothing but positives.
The application for the registry usually gives a more complete history of a neighborhood than you’ll find elsewhere.
Does anyone have a map of the proposed district?
Good question John and thanks to Carolyn Paulette for sending me a map. I have added a link to a pdf at the top of this post.

Thanks for covering this!
