Gas Leak Near Huguenot High

Emergency crews and utility contractors were summoned to the Stratford Hills area of South Richmond this morning after a natural gas line was accidentally cut.

No injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred about 11:30 a.m. while someone was working in the 2700 block of Kenmore Road, a short distance north of Forest Hill Avenue near Huguenot High School.

While utility contractors were summoned, fire crews went door-to-door in the neighborhood to keep residents away from the leak.

The first firefighters on the scene said they were unable to stop the leak and would need assistance from city gas workers.[via]
