Battle for the 69th
Delegate Hall was appointed by Governor Kaine to the ABC Board. Currently there are 3 people that would like to take his place in the House of Delegates District 69th seat. The Democrats are going with Betsy Carr, the Republicans are putting their money on Ernesto Sampson and L. Shirley Harvey is the Independent. As the election gets closer we will keep on eye on how this election plays out.
Betsy Carr’s website – Obviously hasn’t been updated since the primary and you have to dig a little to see what she supports. Under issues she lists 7 items: More funding for schools, more jobs, reduce gun violence, crackdown on predatory lenders, restoration of voting right for those that have paid their debt, protecting environment specifically the Chesapeake Bay and James, and affordable public transportation for Metro Richmond.
Ernesto Sampson website – No signs of recent updates and his message is very simple. He wants “More Jobs and Better Schools”.
L. Shirley Harvey website – Obviously has a lot of faith. As for a clear message not so much. The site is mainly a rant against city government.
The Virginia Public Access Project is a non-profit that lets citizens take a look at the money behind the elections. A detailed look at the 69th District breaks down where the candidates stand on the always crucial fund-raising efforts.
Betsy Carr – $44,149 was raised for the Primary and nothing for the General Election
Ernesto Sampson – $10,139 raised for the General and none for the Primary
L. Shirley Harvey – $0 raised
