Happy 4th All
The Westover Hills annual Kid’s Parade was a stunning success as always. Thank you Westover Hills Neighborhood Association and Laura Dysart. I have hastily posted some snapshots (no real editing at all) as a slideshow. If you would like a copy or a picture removed please let me know. It should advance to the next picture every few seconds. [slideshow id=6]Update 6/5RTD has a slideshow with a 1 second clip of the parade but we get more love in the print addition with a picture of Forest Hill resident Ramon & Patrick Pouzan and quotes from Laura Dysart.
Laura and Scott Dysart began organizing the parade about eight years ago with a small group of parents. Yesterday’s parade had about 100 kids participating.
“We love seeing the kids with their bikes and strollers decorated. It’s a lot of fun,” Laura said.
After the parade, their backyard becomes the nexus of the neighborhood with a snow-cone machine and popcorn maker.
“It’s a lot of fun,” they said as the festivities began to wrap up at 11 a.m. Most of the crowd had dispersed, and sons Brandon, 10, and Jake, 7, helped clean up.

This might just be the event my family enjoys the most every year. Thank you for coming out and celebrating with us. Simple fun- the way it should be. Thank you to Richard Hayes for documenting, Page Hayes for “drumming” and a big thanks to Debra and Pat McClane for set up, Jack Pickerell for an industrial compressor to blow up “all those balloons”- and also to Olivia Lockwood and the Clark Family (Lynn, John and Sarah) for helping. I think it gets more festive and fun every year- we love being a part of this community and this event! Laura Dysart:)
thanks to all the neighbors who majorly cheered as well!
one more important comment- thanks to the Westover Hills Neighborhood Association- they agreed to sponsor it two years in, and they do pay for the snow cone machine, drinks and road barricades. Thanks WHNA!! laura Dysart
