Break-in at Lake Restoration Site

Some bad news from the construction site of the ongoing Forest Hill Lake restoration. On Tuesday evening someone went onto the site and broke the windshield of one of the vehicles. Police have been notified and hopefully patrols will be stepped up and other measures taken. One bit of information that I wasn’t aware of until today is that the city will not cover the cost of the vandalism. The company that is working so hard to make our park better has to bear the full burden of the costs. If you see anyone on the site after hours that you suspect doesn’t belong there please call the police. Thanks to Debra McClane for passing this information on to us.

It is a shame, but the company that is working so hard is getting paid for it, not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, and they have insurance. Lets keep things in perspective.

The “perspective” I want to keep is that someone is damaging private property. They are trespassing to do it. They are delaying the lake restoration project. We should just shrug our shoulders and say “boys will be boys?” I hope the police catch the person, and then we can go before the judge on preliminary hearing and ask for a high bond to be set, and at trail, ask the judge for a sentence that will serve as a deterrent in the future. That’s the “perspective” I choose to keep.

I just drove by the park tonight. They have ZERO light in there… even the old “make-out” light at the entrance is burnt out.

Put up so lights, tear down that black plastic, and the little thugs will go elsewhere.

Also, if someone is willing to break the contractor’s windows, what’s stopping them from breaking OUR car windows?
