City Spraying Near Wayside Spring
Some of you may have noticed the vegetation along the fence line at Wayside Springs on New Kent Road is dying. Does anybody know what the city uses to kill vegetation? Although you aren’t suppose to I do know some people use the spring for drinking water. It would be nice to know a bit more about the spray. Anybody know?

Dunno what they are using… until now the city trimmed back the nature’s excess with weed eaters and such.
Perhaps the city budget cuts have forced them to use less environmental safe means. Some calls will certainly be made.
As far as Wayside Spring goes, when I efforted this story last year link here , I discovered that it wasn’t that the water was unsafe as that the city decided not to test it anymore so it’s status is unknown.
Safe or not, any chemicals sued will certainly make the matter worse.
P.S. Good catch by Richard H. I drove by the location today and it’s truly scary.
What on earth is the City thinking?
Actually it was pointed out to me I just wrote up the post. If the person that noticed it first wants to speak up I’ll let him/her take full credit.
I just got off the phone with the City. They say that they have not sprayed in the area in a time frame that would have caused the current effect, nor have any record of such spraying.
Maybe some residents are taking it upon themselves to spray this greenery (like the fella on Riverside Drive several years ago who starting chopping down trees NOT on his property because trees “spoiled his view”).
If that’s the case, the perps certainly need to tell the residents in the area what toxic materials they are using. A lot of people and their pets and children use that sidewalk and certainly have a right to know what posion they’re exposed to, not to mention the effects on the abundent wildlife in the area.
