Richmond Folk Festival Needs You (To Volunteer)
In four short years, the Richmond Folk Festival has become an October tradition for many. With 6 stages covering a wide range of music from Cajun to Blues to Go-Go to Inuit throat singing, it’s also one of Virginia’s largest festivals attracting up to 185,000 people!
And did you know that it takes 1,200 volunteers to produce the Festival? Jobs range from beer servers and safety escorts to bucket brigade and craft-assistants and as Betsy Lecky says:
“Most people probably do not understand that while there are staff members who help produce the Festival, the majority of the event is run by volunteers who give generously of their time every year. We need to know now who we will have working with us so that our planning can remain on track for a great event in about three months!”
So whether you’re an individual or a group looking to contribute to a great event and have a lot of fun sign up online for one of their many volunteer positions. The Festival will be held rain or shine October 9-11, 2009. (Photo courtesy the Richmond Folk Festival)
