Four Teens Rescued at Pony Pasture
One boy was rescued with the help of kayaker using a rope thrown from shore. A second boy was rescued by rope from shore and the other two had to be brought off a rock by boat.
Sixteen fire rescue personnel were on hand, in addition to Richmond police and city school system truancy officers.
Several thoughts come to mind. First of all how many people need to get pulled out of the river before people read and follow all the warning signs? Second I hope those rescued are forced to pay for all the rescue personnel and police that had to be taken from doing other tasks to perform this rescue. Lastly it is a bad day when you almost drown and are greeted by a truancy officer on the bank of the river.

I’m just happy that they’re okay.
Cool out, RICHARD.

Wow Hal. rough day at work today?
There are signs clearly posting A) the river level and B) the life jacket rule. They chose to ignore it. As a result, the members of the RFD river rescue team had to risk their own safety (as they do with every rescue) to fish them out. If these children are incapable of reading a freaking SIGN, then they need to deal with the consequences.
Now there’s a spectacular way to get caught skipping school!
Per Jen’s comment, maybe the public schools should work on reading comprehension? /rimshot
Having seen the people involved, I think they were above the school age, at least in Honduras.
I just don’t get it. Jump in put your feet up and ride it in…
Is it safe to assume that Hal does not work for RFD or RPD? It must be like beating your head against a brick wall for these hard working, underpaid, risk-taking lifesavers … and saving idiots at that!
Jennifer C. I agree. You would also assume it was common knowledge (read social conciousness) to leave with everything you brought, instead of strewing it about our neighborhoods. Drive down 21st and 22nd streets.
