It should come as no surprise, due to current economic conditions, that the city budget is going to take some hits this year. But what’s getting hit? A public forum is going to be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Main Library downtown. Get more details and please give us your input on the proposed budget when you click to read more.
Review the Mayor’s budget here, including his comments in presenting it to the City Council. His budget is for two years and he says that “The Fiscal Year 2009-2010 general fund budget is proposed to be $629.6 million, a decrease of $28.5 million (4.3%) from the current fiscal year. Fiscal Year 2010-2011 projects a budget of $636.5 million, an increase from the prior year of about $7 million (1%).”
I have the attention span of a small developmentally disabled gnat, so I’m not the right person to give analysis of the budget. I DO know that we have some big minds reading this blog, what do YOU think of the budget? I hear rumors that the funding for our parks is in for a big hit.
