Kids Indoor Playgrounds Fun or Fearful?
Parents of young children will tell you that on a rainy day, there’s nothing quite like an indoor playground for relieving some pent up energy. As a mom, I’ve always worried that they were breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria. NBC12 ‘s Restaurant Report selected three locations, including “a Chic-fil-a in the city”, which I assume is the one in Stratford Hills, took some samples and sent them off to a lab.
We sent our samples off to EMSL, an analytical lab in New Jersey, for extensive testing and our results were shocking. All six of our surface tests were clean as a whistle. Almost no traces of bacteria were found.
I’m still going to keep a bottle of hand-sanitizer in my purse, but I’m glad that the play areas themselves aren’t nearly as gruesome as I had expected. In this story they tested several of the indoor playgrounds that many of our neighborhood families frequent including Chuck-e-Cheese and the play area at Chesterfield Town Center. Good news.
The should have tested the drink ice.
Whew! I almost didn’t want to read that. I’m glad to see our Chic-Fil-A got a clean bill of health, because my son loves it.
The last cold he got (and passed on to us) came on shortly after a trip to Chesterfield Mall. But I don’t think he picked it up in the play area; my suspicious mind immediately went to the teenage food court employees who prepared our lunch. And no, I’m not saying which place.
Remember when we were kids and we’d spend all day picking up frogs, making mud pies and throwing worms at one another? Sigh, those were the days.
You know what’s funny? i NEVER liked frogs or worms when I was growing up! :) Thank goodness there are always lots of options for kids to play and explore indoors and outdoors!
