Belle Isle Pedestrian Bridge Re-Opening
3 Comments »The Belle Isle pedestrian bridge will re-open at 8:00 a.m. Friday, March 20. Crews have completed construction on a wood and steel scaffolding over the bridge, providing a safe method of pedestrian travel for citizens. The pedestrian bridge is suspended beneath the Robert E. Lee Bridge, and connects downtown Richmond and Belle Isle.
“We are very pleased that the pedestrian bridge is open and safe again. Belle Isle is such a great attraction and we appreciate that DPW was able to expedite the process to allow the public to enjoy Belle Isle again,” said J..R. Pope, Director of the City’s Department of Parks and Recreation..
The vehicle bridge to Belle Isle remains closed, and there is still no access for emergency vehicles.

Just a thought, but is it wise to re-open Belle Island when there’s no access for emergency vehicles?
The other access bridge was closed a good while *before* the pedestrian bridge was closed.
Even worse
