Nickel Bridge Postcard
3 Comments »Not much of a news article but Nickle Bridge was mentioned in the paper so I am using it as an excuse to post an old postcard. The bridge was mentioned as having some of the worst potholes in the city.
There are some immediately south of the Boulevard Bridge (Nickel Bridge) in the northbound lane. Heading down the grade toward the bridge, most vehicles pick up speed only to slam on the brakes as they reach the potholes just before the bridge begins. With traffic coming the other direction, there is often no way to avoid the potholes. — Jonathan C.
According to the Westover Hills Neigborhood Association a complaint has already been filed with the city to get that area fixed. I won’t swear to it but I think they have been patched but it is still really rough in the area mentioned.

They were working on the South bound side last week, but it was a meager crew with no traffic control. Maybe they were just temp repairs.
I think the affect is compounded by the entrance to the bridge which seems even narrower than the bridge itself.
Neat old postcard – ahhh if only the James really was such a lovely shade of blue – reminds me more of the Carribean.
