Doc’s Barber Shop
I have been going to Doc’s Barber Shop ever since moving into the neighborhood. It is everything I want in a barber, cheap and quick. So far my attempts to have our daughter’s hair cut at Doc’s have been thwarted by my lovely and rational wife. Since I am denied the joy of Doc’s artistry performed on my child it is nice to read Anne Thomas Soffee’s post on her blog Parental Rites. A snippet of her post is below but you need to go read the whole post, great stuff.
Also, fancy barbers always want to give The Boy that pudding-bowl Christopher Robin haircut that makes him look like a little English schoolboy. My anarcho-communist husband will have no truck with this, saying that his son is not a “class traitor.”
The man referred to as Doc is not actually Doc he bought the shop from “Doc” but in my mind he is Doc.

When did he buy that shop? What happened to the old Doc?
Not sure but I’ll ask him next time I go in.
Doc’s is bad news. I got haircuts from him twice. Both times it made me look like I just got out of the joint.
Cranky that is exactly the look I am always shooting for so it works out good for me. Doc is not so much into the styling.
I’ve had respect for him since the time I took 2 young boys in to get haircuts. The TV was on and Sally Jessee Raphael (a while ago, ok?)came on and they were discussing some crap. Doc walked over to the TV and turned it off. Thank you, Doc!
