Help for the Unemployed
Having personally experienced the joy of unemployment I know that any and all help is appreciated, so it was good to read about The Capital Region Employment Transition Center that is opening today in Henrico County. The RTD has all the details.
The Capital Region Employment Transition Center will begin helping displaced workers from eight localities — Richmond and the counties of Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent and Charles City.
The center will operate each weekday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 4060 Innslake Drive, in the former Innsbrook Public Library in western Henrico. The phone number for the center is (804) 273-6260.
Services will include help finding work and being retrained, credit and housing counseling, and assistance with needs such as food, energy and mental health. The center also will have a paid staff of seven people.

This is a great concept and a huge improvement of services(when compared to the current system that the State offers) to assist the unemployed-unfortunately you can only access their services if you were laid-off after 12-2008.
