I’ve taken to tucking a check in my wallet JUST for our breakfast trips to Paradise. I haven’t carried a checkbook for years, but their kind service and yummy food make it worth having a chec on hand.

Is the Paridise Diner accepting credit/debit card yet? My husband & I went once and they only accepted checks & cash–something we rarely use anymore. They lost our business due to no plastic–I sat alone eating breakfast while my husband ran to the atm.

One thing would be good to remember: this is Hills and Heights, a neighborhood blog, not the Richmond Times-Dispatch circa 1993 (when it was the only print-y news outlet).
Obviously you feel like Richard dropped the ball here, but there was ample opportunity to find out about the non-meeting elsewhere, and it is rather snarky to make public accusations regarding the reasons for the oversight.

Just to get back on track. Paradise is open six days a week (Closed Tuesday,) opens early in the morning, and is now offering dinner as well. Junior and Karen live in the ‘hood, and are much appreciated.

The Oregon Hill statement might be a typo but a quick clarification. In my mind we primarily serve in no particular order; Woodland Heights, Stratford Hills, Forest Hill, Westover Hills and to a lesser degree Bon Air and Manchester. I might have left someone out it is early.

Oregon Hill is handled very well at http://www.oregonhill.net/.

Bryce and Jennifer, this blog is supposed to feed information to Woodland Heights andto Oregon Hill neighborhoods, isn’t it? Their 5th District Councilman, Marty Jewell, sponsored this meeting along with Bruce Tyler and George Samuels. It would have been an opportunity to discuss the stadium with three members of Council as well as with the developers. Residents need to get out and speak up. The state of our economy is evidence of how well our leadership and oversight groups have been taking care of our investments and government. When we have an opportunity to talk to our representatives, we need to know about it, and we need to take advantage of it. Carolyn

I can assure you that I posted on this site after several attempts to have this meeting about the baseball stadium posted separately on this blog. Considering the number of people who attended the meeting with the developers in the 4th district, I thought a number of residents might like to have the opportunity to attend another meeting, especially, considering a bond issue of $70 million and infrastructure costing the City $10 to $15 million.
Sorry, if my request to post a public meeting offended someone. This meeting was posted on the Woodland Heights site. And the cancellation was verified by the keeper of the Hills & Heights blog on the Woodland Heights site, but not here. If this site receives press releases for public meetings, someone thinks they should be posted here.

Also, the meeting with the developers for the 4th District was not published in Ms Graziano’s newsletter in February though it was announced in the Forest Hill Civic Association meeting the second week in January. Perhaps an over-sight or not able to meet a publishing deadline.

What are you talking about? How are your comments related to this post or even this blog. When the stadium developers and President Graziano hosted a meeting about Shockoe Center on the southside it was well publicized by this blog. Please remember that this blog covers the Hills and Heights (and does a fantastic job). If you are interested in happenings north of the river please see the links to other community blogs that are conveniently listed at the bottom right of this page.

Hills and Heights, much like the other neighborhood blogs, is a volunteer site that is run by people who have full-time jobs and small children. I can assure you that there is no effort to obscure anything by any of the individuals responsible for posting on this weblog.
The meeting at Albert Hill was presumably posted elsewhere (perhaps on one of the north-of-the-river blogs? You know, where A.H. is actually located?) and complaining that the meeting was A) not posted here in the first place *and* that the cancellation thereof was not posted, is ridiculous.

Perhaps Paradise Diner would be a good place to post announcements about meetings that Council members are holding for the developers to present their plans for a baseball park funded with City bonds and paid for with redirected State sales taxes and City meal and real estate taxes from businesses within the footprint of the stadium.The meeting to be held at Albert Hill School tonight has been canceled, but Hills and Heights has failed to post the meeting or its cancellation. Let’s have some transparency on this site, please.

We ask that you not give positive reviews in a place where people north of the river might find out about our restaurants. Paradise is already crowded enough.
