The T-D reported that a woman was found dead near the 3300 block of Moody Ave early this morning, possibly as a result of a robbery.

This happened directly behind my house in the section 8 housing complex. I’m the owner of 103 Dundee Avenue.
We all heard the gunshot on Friday night and none of my neighbors including myself called the police. Unfortunately I seem to be the only one who feels terrible about not doing so.
The problem is we all call so often that half the time they don’t come or when they do they act bothered by it.
The young woman who died was Erica Williams of Glen Allen. No one knows (or will tell) why she was down here, but my corner is a hotspot for buying drugs… and seeing fancy West Enders stopped to have dealers lean in the windows of their Saabs is nothing new.
I spoke with detectives at 2am Friday night to tell them what I witnessed when I looked out the window after the shot, and was told that my door was the only one answered out of all my neighbors and that there were people far more involved than I who SHOULD have called the police.
And, not a single person who lives in the complex knows anything. Which we all know is BS!!! How do you not look out your window when a gun goes off not four feet from it?!
Honestly, I am tired of being the only one calling the cops. Obviously the “ignore it and it will go away” tactic is not working – SOMEONE DIED.
I am fed up with the BS over here, and people’s lack of willingness to address it in favor of trying to keep the shiny veneer on the neighborhood.
If anything good comes from this tragedy maybe it will be that my neighbors decide to pull off the blinders and organize to get rid of the crime in Reedy Creek.

Whitney, you’re not alone. My husband and I live on Moody and also feel like we’re among the few who care enough about where we live to inform the police of problems in the area. Dealing is rampant on our street – it was only a matter of time before someone was killed over it. I can understand not wanting to speak to the police in an obvious fashion as this may jeopardize your life but I urge residents to contact the CrimeStoppers phone number (780-1000)with any information about crime in our neighborhood. The area has a lot of potential and I’d hate for all of the positive change I’ve seen in the neighborhood take a turn for the worse.
