Meet the 5th
After profiling the 4th District last month, Richmond.com now turns its attention to the 5th District. Unlike the 4th, they’ve got quite the little Council race underway just down the road…

I look forward to the removal of Marty Jewell from City Council. His voting record clearly demonstrates that he pushes his own ugly persoal agenda over the needs of his constituants, no matter what neighborhood they live in.
Marty Jewell openly slandered the PHI before learning anything about it, he voted against a room packed full of his constiutants on both the sale of single-malts after 10pm in a residental neighborhood and the Spring Hill development. He didn’t even have the decency to stay seated while his constiuants were at the podium speaking on both issues. His distain for certain neighborhoods is painfully obvious and terribly damaging to this city and ALL of it’s residents.
When you place the successes of the 4th district (South of the River Market, renovations for Forest Hill park, decreased crime and blight) next to the backslide of the 5th district there can be no support for Marty Jewell, no matter what neighborhood you live in.
I agree! Brandon isn’t a viable option either. While running he has promised Woodland Heights support on several key issues we faced only to be a no show. If that is the support we can expect WHILE he is campaigning… what can we expect when he is in office. Talk about more of the same. That is why I support Lee Shewmake. We need better.
