Two Questions
A couple of unrelated questions from readers, the answers to which I certainly don’t know:
Any idea what’s going on with the former equipment rental place on Westover Hills? I’ve noticed intermittent work going on, but can’t tell what might be going in there.
Secondly:
Are there any July 4th activities on this side of the river? Dogwood Dell is nice but it’s too crowded and we’re tired of standing on the bridge trying to catch a glimpse of fireworks.
Anyone?

I have heard a tatoo parlor is going into the old equipment rental place, but that is only what I heard.
I wish it was my business, I just missed buying that building.

Transmission repair facility. Properly zoned, supported by WHNA. No staff opposition of which I am aware.
Evidently the tattoo place is moving from Stratford Hills shopping center into the old dry cleaners on FH up near Ukrops.
We talked to some of the guys looking over the place. It’s a transmission shop. The guess would be it’s a franchised shop as they have been having to do site improvements like the stone facing of the r.r. ties.
David is correct. We live just behind there and heard from the workmen that a transmission shop is going in. They also mentioned a ‘curio shop’ as well… maybe they’re dividing the space somehow? Either way, I think they are doing a great job cleaning up over there. Hope it opens soon.
There’s a Zoning request sign on the property now…what are they requesting? Couldn’t find anything on the city Community Development website…was really hoping for a cool restaurant.
Regarding 4th of July activities,
Westover Hills Neighborhood Association blocks off Riverside Drive for people to watch the fireworks.

Here’s the zoning request from the City Clerk’s office. Transmission shop & little retail store.
No wonder gov’t progress is so slow.
15 pages to change a tool rental facility into a transmission shop and all the inspections, sign offs and work to go with it.
