Forest Hill Park lake inches forward
From Kathy Graziano:
Richmond City Council Member Kathy Graziano today announced that the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has approved a permit to restore the lake at Forest Hill Park to its historic boundaries.
The project has been in the planning stages for more than three years by the Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities. The Department will move forward to commission engineering drawings and specifications, and start the bidding process within the next two months, with work to begin this summer.

If they’d haven given me $100k and a shovel three years ago, they’d have saved a bucketful of money and the job would have been finished by now. Sheesh!
If my math is anywhere close to right, that’s almost 7,000 shovels full a day for three years.
Good exercise program.
I am very pleased to hear that this project will take off this summer. Many times my finace and I have walked around the lake and imagined what it was like so many years ago. We go home and look at all the old photographs in pamphlets and books and only wish we could see the lake the way it was. Her mother grew up in WH and used to while away the summers hours there growing up. Many thanks to Mrs Graziano and the others who are pushing to make this dream come true for everybody
Well, it is now September 8th, 2008, summer is over and NOTHING has been done with the lake.
