School Board flare-up
When your School Board rep just happens to be the Chair of the most-scrutinized quasi-government body in recent memory, there’s never a dull moment for your district. The latest round of George Braxton vs. Keith West flared up this week, with Braxton removing West from his position as chair of the Finance committee. Braxton’s resistance to any sort of criticism combined with West’s abandonment and dismissal of the school system as a parent suggests the ugliness has only just begun.
Full Disclosure: The author’s significant other is a RPS teacher. Neither of us have much faith in the school board or RPS administration.

Check out the flare ups on chpn. There are a couple still protecting the messed up RPS system but most of us are ready for change.

Gray, I am not protecting the RPS. I am simply pointing out that the dire problems you experienced in your school are not absolutely global.
It is dire though because children and people have been hurt. And it should have been prevented. Did you read my first blog on the pinkney-eppes story?
George Braxton has done nothing on the Richmond School Board of any significance other than to threaten to hit colleague Carol Wolf (because she dared to disagree with him) and to boot Keith West off the Finance Committee because West dared to disagree with him.
Wolf stood her ground and refused to be bullied by Braxton. West decided to disengage. The good news is that some say Braxton is considering a run for Mayor. Clearly, he has some qualities in common with the current Mayor.
Pity, though, he doesn’t have even half the brainpower Wilder wastes nor even a single veterbrae of Wolf’s backbone when it comes to fighting for something that matters.
Run, George, Run ……
